Dr. Jonathan Macstay
Dr. Jonathan MacStay has known he wanted to become a veterinarian since the young age of 16, where he started as a kennel assistant, then worked his way up to become a veterinary technician. He was the lead technician for 8 years before applying to become a doctor himself. Dr. MacStay graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2011. He attended UC Davis for undergraduate work, where he obtained a degree in microbiology. After earning his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), he went on to complete a rotating internship in small animal medicine at VCA Walnut Creek. Dr. MacStay spent the next five years following his internship practicing in various emergency hospitals in the Bay Area. Following his stint in emergency medicine, he moved on to general practice and has remained there since then. He joined our team here at Jules Veterinary Center as an Associate Veterinarian in January 2022, where he continues to strive to learn and grow as a veterinarian each day in order to save the lives of animals, improve their overall wellbeing/health, and keep them with the families that love them dearly. His favorite areas of medicine include general practice, internal medicine, pain management, and dermatology. When Dr. MacStay is not practicing medicine for the pets in our community, he enjoys spending time with his mischievous young cat, named “One-Eyed Willy”, that he adopted as a baby from Jules once he recovered from surgery. He also enjoys relaxing, hiking on trails, visiting the beach, watching movies, gaming, and traveling the world when he has time to do so.
